Our Story

Kruthika and Brian met on a dark and stormy night on September 25th in the year of our lord 2020. The sea was angry that day I tell you. On that fateful night, Kruthika and Brian both had unknowingly booked tickets on the same ferry across Lake Michigan to start new lives in a little city now called Chicago. However, as they slowly made their way across the open sea, the waves started to get even worse. Soon, 18 inch swells started to overwhelm the side of the boat, and it began taking on water. It was only a short time later that panic set in among the passengers. The struggle for the life boats was intense. The sheer girth of many of the Midwestern passengers meant that life boats designed to seat 20 people could only fit three or four, and many people were forced into the water during the struggle over the few available seats. One of these passengers was Kruthika, who fell into the water trying to climb over a railing into a lifeboat. Luckily for her, Brian saw that she was a subpar swimmer during the continuing melee onboard the ship. He jumped into the lukewarm water to save her, and soon they were both slowly paddling back to shore. However, their ordeal wasn’t over yet. Soon they were surrounded by great white lake sharks, who had adapted to fresh water due to a rapid evolution triggered by global warming. Using his quick wit and Navy Seal training, Brian was able to kill the sharks with nothing but his bare hands, a paperclip, and a shoelace. Kruthika and Brian then slowly paddled 71 miles back to shore, and then kissed as the sun rose over the city skyline. It was super cool, you should’ve totally been there.

Okay fine. We met on a dating app during COVID. But that wasn’t very interesting was it? And we may have embellished several minor details in the previous story.

We actually did meet on that date on 2020 and went out to dinner at an Italian restaurant in downtown Chicago. In spite of us both agreeing that the food was pretty terrible, we still had a great conversation and a lot of laughs. After our meal, Brian noticed that Kruthika had saved the wine cork from our bottle of wine from dinner and was fumbling it in her hand. He thought she was nervous, and threw it in the trash on the street. But, what he didn’t know was that she thought this night was special, and she wanted to keep a little souvenir to remember it by. Although that keepsake is now safely buried under tons of garbage at some landfill, Brian and Kruthika now have accumulated many more wine corks to commemorate many more great nights together. And we hope to keep growing our collection as our adventure together continues.
